PRESENTATION Situated in the leafy suburb of Gardens, right behind the Mount Nelson hotel and painted in the same famous pink colour, the Lady Hamilton was named after Lord Nelson’s beautiful mistress, Lady Emma Hamilton. Gardens is located right above the city centre and is one of Cape Town’s oldest suburbs. The Lady Hamilton, built in the early 1950’s, has a distinct colonial feel and is surrounded by historical buildings. It is within walking distance of vibrant Kloof Street with its trendy and quaint shops, deli’s, top restaurants and coffee shops. There is a computer available for guests to use, as well as wireless internet access in the reception area. A unique feature of the Lady Hamilton is the lovely pool which is totally protected against the wind and forms the heart of the property.
ACCOMODATION The hotel offers 78 comfortable en-suite rooms, either with views of Table Mountain or over the city. A laundry and dry cleaning service is available
The hotel’s main restaurant and terrace overlook the sparkling pool. A breakfast and dinner buffet is served here and light meals are available during the day. On sunny days breakfast and other meals may be taken on the terrace outside. Comfortable pool loungers on the pool deck offer day long sun tanning with pool side service.
CONFERENCING The Lady Hamilton has two conference rooms seating up to 150 people with cinema style seating. A small alcove off the main function room is ideal for product displays or to store equipment.
MORE ABOUT LADY EMMA HAMILTON Born Amy Lyon in Cheshire in 1761, she was the daughter of a blacksmith who died when she was two months old, leaving Amy to be brought up by her mother Mary Kidd. She later changed her name to Emma Hart. After Nelson's death in the famous Battle of Trafalgar in 1805, Emma fell deeply into debt. She spent a year in debtor's prison before moving to France to try to escape her creditors. She died in Calais in January 1815 aged 54.
